Guardian Phoenix.

A mother's jade carried as fire, luck, and protection.

Red phoenix back tattoo with a Chinese tassel and green jade charm

This piece is built around a phoenix in flight, but the center of the story is the mother's jade. The bird rises in red, opened across the back with the heat and movement of a living charm. Around it, the Chinese tassel threads through the composition like a blessing that has been tied by hand.

The tassel brings a protective language to the piece. In Chinese tradition, red is a color of luck, joy, and warding energy, and a knot or hanging charm is often kept close to invite good fortune while guarding the person who carries it. Here it does not sit beside the phoenix; it moves with it, wrapping the body in a quiet wish for safety.

The jade gives the tattoo its emotional weight. Jade is not only beautiful stone. It is associated with protection, virtue, balance, and the kind of love that is meant to last beyond one moment. Set against the reds of the phoenix, the green becomes a memory of the mother: steady, cooling, and close to the skin. The phoenix carries that memory forward, transforming grief, gratitude, and protection into a guardian that keeps rising.
